THE FUTILITY OF INSTABILITY

December 9, 2017

Genesis 49:3-4 (NKJV)

“Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength… Unstable as water, you shall not excel…”

Although he was the firstborn and was to be the heir of the father, Jacob rejected him because of his instability in personality and character. His weakness and lack of restraint led him to the wrong decision of sleeping with his father’s concubine; which was an utter abomination.

An unstable soul cannot be trusted and will not excel in what he does. He will always second guess many of his decisions and is easily swayed by the influence of peers. The unstable soul cannot be trusted with important responsibilities and accuracy in executing critical tasks. The unstable mind is mediocre in life and does not, therefore, excel in any discipline or purpose in life.

“O Lord, deliver me from instability and make me a strong and focused life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
