Genesis 49:13 (NKJV)
“Zebulun shall dwell by the haven of the sea; He shall become a haven for ships, And his border shall adjoin Sidon.”
Beware if you are a dockyard for ships because they will not only bring the goods that you desire; they will also deliver goods that have no value. Every merchant wants to sell their product, and they will bring both the desirable and the undesirable to your docks. Because of your position, personality or priorities, people may be attracted to come to you. Great caution and sensitivity are therefore needed not to be allured into the ways of Sidon.
Zebulun was a middle ground and a delicate spot; a place where light and darkness met. Close to Sidon and always open to merchants, it was often infiltrated by strange values and strange beliefs.
Don’t be a Zebulun and if you seem to resemble Zebulun, then make your positions and values very firm and definite; and ensure your boundaries with Sidon are well fortified. This is the only way to survive the onslaught of the two enemies surrounding you.
“The enemies assault me day and night Lord. But I am resolved not to allow their foreign goods to infiltrate my port. I am determined to only receive from them, that which is good for my people and me. I am the gatekeeper, and it is my job to protect those with me. So shall I be, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
