Matthew 3:11 (NKJV)
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry…”
Know your place. Despite the achievements and successes you may have attained, know your place. Know that you are finite, small, limited and frail; and that there is One mightier than you. Jesus was younger than John in age and ministry, but John knew He was greater. Jesus is always greater. Let’s bow down and confess that He is greater. With all our earthly successes, we are not fit even to pick up His sandals. Jesus is mightier.
As we live our lives, let’s know that all honor, glory, and majesty need to be reserved for Jesus. Know your place. Don’t take His place. Point men to Him who is worthy of all adoration and followership. It’s not my place to be adored and followed. God may have used me in some way, and people may think I am mighty but the real glory and honor must go to Him who is mightier. I must know my rightful place.
“Lord, I know my proper place, and it’s never to struggle with You for space. You are the King of Glory, and all the heavens stand at rapt attention in Your presence and fall face down when You rise. I know my place, and that’s face down before Your majesty. Amen”
