Matthew 3:11 (NKJV)
“…but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Accompanying the Holy Spirit’s baptism is the baptism of fire. And fire burns. We cannot have the Holy Spirit and yet we do not burn as a living flame of God. Passion and fire go together. Power and fire go together. If we have indeed experienced the Presence of the Holy Spirit, then we know that His flame of fire comes along with His presence.
Jesus wants to have children who are ministers of fire. We cannot be His children and yet be cold and ordinary and dull. Fire is never dull. You cannot hide fire. Fire spreads. Do we really have this baptism? Is the fire real? Or have we designed a Holy Spirit who comes without the fire of heaven? If the fire is not burning, it’s time to get back to Jesus for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
“Lord, fire does not need to shout to burn. Lord, I am not asking to be loud, but am asking for a fresh baptism that will stir up the fire of God and the power of God in me, that by this fire, the world may come to know that Jesus real and powerful and active and available. Baptize my heart again with Your fire O Lord. I need fresh fire, even right now. Amen.”
