Matthew 4:1 (NKJV)
“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”
I still wish this were not the case, but the reality is that God will lead us by His Spirit to a place where Satan will tempt us. God does not tempt us Himself because that is beneath God to do, but He will lead us to a place where Satan will have access to us for a season and in that season, Satan will do all he can to trip us over or cause us to blaspheme God or lose faith. Overcoming Satanic temptation is one of our primary duties in this life, if we are to count for God in any meaningful way.
Know that God does not leave us alone in our times of testing, and He will never allow us to go through an experience that’s beyond the grace He’s already provided. The purpose of the testing is to ensure that we can overcome the wiles of Satan, before God commits a new level of responsibility to us. Every new level of responsibility will be preceded by a new level of testing. Prepare therefore for a new season of temptations before God will permit you to undertake new tasks from above.
“Lord, I know I should have gone beyond this point, but because I have failed several tests, that’s why I have not risen beyond this point. But Lord, have mercy on me and grant me the discipline to utilize Your grace so that I can overcome the temptations that stand in my way to greater heavenly service. This is cry for, in Jesus name. Amen.”
