Matthew 5:13 (NKJV)
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
The only reason we have remained on earth is to slow down the process of fast decay happening in our generation. Think of it. If heaven is our final abode and we are destined to go there, then why don’t we go there right away? It is because God has ordained it that we stay as salt to preserve the earth and give flavor to humanity. Without us, the decay would spread uncontrollably, and humanity would be utterly worthless and tasteless in the sight of God. I must, therefore, make this, my daily wake-up call. I am here to slow down the decay and bring flavor to humanity. I am here because God has ordained it to be so. That’s my only relevance for being here. I am not here to offer acceptable worship to God because I can do that much better if I were in heaven. I am here because God wills that I slow down the earth decay and bring Him joy by flavoring humanity with the life of Christ.
The tragedy, however, occurs when I, the salt of the earth, become redundant and salt-less and lose the very purpose of my existence. Such an occurrence would make my remaining on earth irrelevant to God’s purposes, and in good faith, God may have to take me away. A salt-less believer is irrelevant to God, and He cannot have salt-less men occupy space where others could have occupied for Him. If we are to stay relevant to heaven’s global scheme of things, then we must ensure we remain salty, and we spread His salty flavor in this evil and decomposing generation we live in. If you must lose anything in this life, don’t lose your relevance to God. Don’t lose your saltiness.
“Lord, I see that’s Satan’s primary target, and I will not grant him that victory in Jesus name. I know Satan wants to connive with my flesh, to lead me into the murky waters of salt-less living, through compromising with sin and worldliness. I resist it in my life and decree that I shall stay abiding with Christ. I shall always earnestly follow the lead of Christ for only then can I be sure that His saltiness remains my saltiness, and that I thereby remain relevant to God’s eternal purpose. So help me God. Amen.”
