Matthew 7:6
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.”
Watch what you communicate, when you communicate and who you communicate with. We must communicate, but wrong communication can lead to personal disaster. When you have something dear to your heart, don’t just share it with anyone and everyone. What is precious to you must be shared with those who can manage your treasure. Good intentions do not naturally translate to the right responses. Good intentions must match good timing and good targeting.
I have suffered loss because, in my zeal, I did not obey this instruction from God’s Word. Although I meant well, I placed what was precious before those who were not prepared to handle it. The fault was not theirs; the fault was mine. I failed because I did not correctly discern the audience to whom I was placing my deeply cherished treasures. Discernment is essential when you need to communicate vital information to others. Failure to do this is a sure ticket to personal loss, personal pain, and personal frustration.
“Father, grow me in the grace of discernment. Grow my insight into people. Open my eyes to see and feel and sense. Let my knowledge of others not be dependent on their outward appearance. Teach me to refrain my communicating my treasures until I can determine that it will be properly managed and appreciated. This I pray for in Jesus name. Amen.”
