THE INTERCESSOR

March 22, 2018

Matthew 8:5-6

“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’”

Have faith for others. The centurion must have had his problems which he could have brought before Jesus, but rather, he chose to bring the issue of his paralyzed and tormented servant. The bible does not say that the servant had faith neither was the servant even aware of what his master was doing. The servant had no stake in the request. Yet he received his healing and deliverance because of the faith and persistence of his master.

This is the beauty of intercession. The Intercessor may have his own personal unresolved issues, but he looks beyond himself to the needs of others around him and beyond him. The Intercessor does not wait for the needy party to participate in seeking a solution. The Intercessor depends on his own faith to bring blessing to others. The Intercessor is moved with compassion by the paralysis and torment being experienced by others, and he steps into the equation by faith to plead for solutions. We need more intercessors to plead for others. We need to learn to wait on heaven to deliver our friends and loved ones. We cannot be silent when the devil goes on rampage in our communities. We must stand and fight for others. This is our calling, and we must rise to the task.

“Lord, renew in me, the calling of the Intercessor. Cause my heart to bleed and to be burdened by the needs of others. Although I may have my own personal requests, teach me to forget myself for the sake of others. In Jesus name. Amen.”
