USE YOUR AUTHORITY

Matthew 8:26

“But He said to them, ‘Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?’ Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”

Experiencing peace does not mean being idle in the midst of the madness around us. The reason we can be at rest is because we have faith in the authority we possess to deal with the storms of life. The fearful believer does not see the mighty potent he carries but concentrates on the potential danger all around him. The true believer uses his authority against the storms of life and seeks to subdue them by the scepter of power in his hand.

We have great authority in Christ, and we must use them. We have great power embedded within us because the Living Christ is in us. We must not be silent while Satan seeks to plunder and destroy us. We must confront, rebuke and engage in the spiritual warfare needed to ensure personal and corporate victory, but all this must be done in faith and in total submission to the sovereignty of God. We must not act in fearfulness and phobia. We must not chase shadows and fight the fight of the fearful in the ways of the coward. We are called to exercise our spiritual weapons, with great boldness and faith. Jesus arose and rebuked the winds and the seas. We too must arise to rebuke the spiritual enemies of our souls and the Church. We must identify what the sea is and what is the wind, and we must deliberately and intentionally rebuke them spiritually. This is a call to arise and to wield our weapons fresh. “Father, I pray that I never slide into fatalistic thinking because I hide under the sovereignty of God. Teach me that silence is not the same as peacefulness. Stir in me the spirit of warfare, so that I engage the seas and the winds around me. I will not drown because I failed to use my spiritual authority. And even today, I rebuke the winds and seas around me, and I declare that they will never succeed to drown me or drown those around me. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
