THE CORE OF LIFE

April 13, 2018

Matthew 9:20 – 21

“Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. For she said to herself, ‘If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.’”

Touching Jesus is the core of life. All other things may be useful and even necessary, but the core of life is touching Jesus. Although the Bible says, “suddenly the woman touched His garment” (Verse 20), yet the sudden touching must have been preceded by much thinking, much agonizing, much planning and much preparations. She must have analyzed her life and her situation. She must have reflected on what the implications were of touching and not touching. She must have tossed things around in her heart. What seemed to others as a sudden act was the result of much personal assessment that solidified into a concrete decision.

Unless we come to that point where we know that all our efforts are useless and cannot bear fruit without Jesus, we will not make Jesus our core. The core need of Man is Jesus. If we still have some energy in us, we will not see Jesus as our real and core need in life. We need Jesus more than we know it and only the man who has looked at his situation correctly will see that He really needs Jesus as his core. Life without Jesus is meaningless and useless. A life that has not touched the helm of Jesus will continue to bleed out. Touching Jesus is the real deal. Touching Jesus, even just His garment, will fix so many unfixable situations. Move out. Press in. Press through the crowds. Press to touch Him. Place this as your life mission and priority. Unless we want to continue bleeding, we must push out and press in by faith and in faith, to touch Him, who is the solution to everything life can throw at us.

“Lord Jesus, You are my core. I bleed out continually when I turn away from this core. All of my strength and passion and vision and spirituality, will all bleed out if I turn away from You. Oh Lord, help me draw close enough to touch You in real terms and real life. This I ask in Your name. Amen.”
