Matthew 10:25
“It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!”
My life vision is to be like my Lord. There is no greater ambition and no greater pursuit in my life. As a disciple, I cannot be greater than my Lord; in fact, my greatest achievement is in being as close as possible to the life of my Lord as possible.
Being like Jesus is, however, not just some romantic notion or some philosophical ideology. It’s a practical walk and it will bring about some practical implications to our lives. Being like Jesus does not only mean that I will resemble Him in His utterly spotless personality. It also means that those who hated Him will hate me too. Even if I don’t do anything, such men will have an intense detesting for me, simply because I bear His nature. Yet, this remains my life vision: to be like Him, even in being hated, rejected and despised. We must accept being like Jesus as a total package, and if this is our lifelong vision, then we should take whatever comes our way in this pursuit.
“Jesus, being like You in every sense is my total ambition. I accept whatever comes my way in the pursuit of this ultimate dream. Strengthen my innermost resolve not to fear or falter when things start going contrary to my expectation. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
