Matthew 10:32
“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”
Testify. Tell of the mercies and goodness of God. To confess Christ means I am unwilling to hide my identity and to hide His goodness in my life. God has done us good in so many ways and He wants us to tell this to our generation. We must not be shy to give credit to Him for the things happening in our lives. Let’s confess Him.
Yet in our increasingly sophisticated world of secular culture, it may look backward and primitive to give credit to an Unseen Spirit Being for the events happening around us. Because we have elevated rationalism to the level of god-status, the world mocks at whatever cannot be scientifically and rationally proven. And for us to be considered modern and inclusive, we are tempted to hide the role of the Divine in our daily blessings. Jesus frowns at this. It’s not that we do not know He’s the One responsible for our sustenance. We just seem ashamed to make it an open fact. So, Jesus gives a promise: ”Don’t be ashamed of me here; I won’t be ashamed of you before My Father!” I think that’s a great deal.
“Jesus, thank You for this deal. I must confess, however, that there are times I feel tongue-tied and slow to give You all the credit for the great things in my life. I ask for forgiveness and a fresh opportunity to speak of You in this growingly hostile anti-Christ world.”
