Matthew 11:10

“For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.’”

This is how God works. God always has a clear plan of what He is doing and what He wants to do. And His strategy has always been simple. God sends His messengers ahead of Him, even into places He intends to work. I have often heard people say, “Find where God is working and join Him in His work.” My variation of that is, “Go where God intends to work and prepare the ground for Him.”

“It is written.” This is the pattern. God sends His messengers ahead, and we must be willing to go ahead to where Jesus is coming. There is an “initial work of grace” that comes before the full outpouring of grace. We are the ones whom God has ordained to prepare the ground for His outpouring into nations, cities, and communities. And this is a grave responsibility. We must make haste now while it is day because Jesus is coming soon.

“God my Father, help me to be alert and awake and sensitive to where You are working and where You intend to work. In a life or a community, may I not fail to play my role of ushering You in. Make me faithful as I go ahead to prepare for You. In Jesus name. Amen.”
