Matthew 11:21
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.”
One sign of true wickedness is that they refuse to repent despite seeing Jesus’ direct works in their lives. A Muslim woman who had been barren for 20 years, recently got a miracle from the Lord and yet she refused to turn to Jesus. These are the kinds of people that Jesus rebukes greatly because they’ve experienced the mighty works of God and yet they refuse to follow Jesus. Jesus put a curse on Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum because they had seen so many miracles and yet they refused to believe.
There is a curse upon those who have experienced the touch of Jesus and yet continue to harden their hearts against obeying God. God is so benevolent and so merciful, that He gives lavishly to all peoples. But, He will bring judgment on those to whom He has lavished His blessings, and they have yet remained unresponsive and disobedient. We have been blessed immeasurably by the hand of Christ. The only way to respond correctly, is by total belief, total obedience and total followership. Anything short of this is evil and breaks the heart of God.
“Jesus, I have experienced a bounty of miracles from Your hands, and I cannot ever afford to live in disobedience to You. Ever. Forgive me, Lord, where I have failed to believe and to obey. I commit to obey You Jesus and a positive response to Your flood of blessing and miracles in my life. Amen.”
