Matthew 12:18-19
“Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him…He will not quarrel nor cry out, Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.”
Who is he that the soul of the Lord is pleased with and on whom the Lord is pleased to place His Spirit on him? It is the man of God who has learned not to be loud and quarrelsome. It is unfortunate that many who claim to be full of the Spirit are very noisy and confrontational, even on things that are non-essentials and inconsequential. But these very things are the things that grieve the heart of the Lord and make Him lift His Spirit from us.
So, although the prophecy above referred initially to Christ, it also applies to those of us who are the symbols and representatives of Christ on earth. We are called to be people of peace. We called to be dignified servants of the King. We cannot be found on the streets shouting and quarreling and making a fuss! We need to operate in our honorable calling as ambassadors of the God of Heaven. It is degrading to God and our mandate, that we should be known in the community as loud-mouthed rancorous people. This is a call to return to our selfless and simple lifestyles. We must always live in the consciousness that we are being observed and that our lives are being judged every day.
“Jesus, I am Your ambassador on earth. I will not act in a way that will dishonor the calling on my life. By Your Spirit, which is upon me, I pray for the discipline of self-control at all times, Amen.”
