PATH TO DESOLATION

Matthew 12:25

“…Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

The words of Jesus are full of wisdom and are timeless. Here again, in a straightforward manner, Jesus showed how deep His divine knowledge was and how simple deep things can be presented. Oh! May we experienced the depth of the simplicity of Christ and rather than complicate simple things, may we learn to simplify deep things. The message of Jesus here was simple: Division in the camp is the greatest reason for defeat and desolation. When a team is divided against itself, it doesn’t stand much of a chance of success. And as a Church, we need to adhere to this eternal injunction.

Together, we must run as one. Even when we disagree on some issues, we must do all to maintain the fabric of unity by emphasizing the things we agree together on. Any team that majors on its minors will always become a minor among majors. Many times we are weak because of what we focus on. Desolation is when we have been plundered and emptied of all our value, and this is the by-product of internal strife and competition within the family or the team. Too much is at stake to let division bring us to the place of emptying. Yes, there is a good fight that must be fought, but if you’re fighting someone on your team, the fight must be done in such a way as not to rip the team apart but to heal the team. Be careful of desolation and the processes leading to desolation.

“Lord, I will not be the reason my family or my team enters desolation. Help me to walk in such a way that there is unity and love in the company, and teach me to focus on our strengths and not our weaknesses. In Jesus name. Amen.”
