INSIDE THE HOUSE

June 21, 2018

Matthew 13:36

“Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, ‘Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.’ ”

Don’t be satisfied with parables that don’t have practical understanding or meaning to everyday life. Don’t be part of the multitude who, despite being ignorant and not having knowledge, are willing to be sent away. If things are said to you or happening to you that you do not understand, you have the right to go to Jesus for understanding. Of course, asking Jesus for clarity does not automatically translate as demanding understanding from Jesus because He may choose not to explain, but know that it’s your privilege to ask Him. So, don’t go away. Go inside the house.

Inside the house is where Jesus explains the more profound mysteries of the kingdom. Inside the house is where true disciples get to eat the meat and bone of the Spirit. Multitudes are dealt with outside the home, but Jesus gives particular attention to those who follow Him inside the house. After the noise is over, retreat into the quietness of the inner chambers with Jesus and in humble adoration, seek answers to the broader issues of life. Don’t end your day’s journey with all the hustle and bustle of the day. We must make time to enter hungrily into the Holy of Holies to receive the bread of heaven that solves our inner questionings and satisfies our restlessness. Go inside.

“Lord, teach me the secret of disconnecting from the noise and the crowd and teach me to retreat into the inner chambers with You. After all the dust has settled, open my ears to hear You decipher the parables of this life, for I know You desire to reveal these mysteries to me. Amen.”
