Matthew 14:19
“Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.”
The key to multiplication is not in our human ability, zeal, or strategy. The key to multiplication is in repeatedly doing two simple things, namely looking up to heaven and blessing whatever we want to multiply. We are so many times drawn away from this heavenly gaze and heavenly dependency because of our anxieties and/ or personal giftedness. In all our worry, we keep our eyes on the bread rather than on heaven, and then we fail to bless the little we have. But this was not the way Jesus did it.
While in the flesh, Jesus also had to practice the principle of multiplication by keeping His eyes always heavenward; and rather than fretting or complaining about limited resources, He blessed the little he had as God’s seed for multiplication. Jesus was not a magician come down from heaven with a magic wand. While He walked in the flesh, He modeled by His life, everything we needed to be doing in the flesh. Imagine what our lives would look like if we actually began to practice these two keys. Just imagine it.
“Jesus, thank You for role modeling for me. Thank You, Jesus, because as You lived and as You multiplied resources to meet the needs of the people, so shall I also do likewise after Your example. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
