GIVE THEM SPACE

Matthew 14:22

“Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.”

After feeding the crowd through the disciples, Jesus made them go away and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. It would seem that Jesus knew the disciples needed space by themselves and therefore He went ahead to create the opportunity for them to get time off, while He handled the crowd. This shows the caring heart of Jesus for those He loved.

In the same way, we need to be willing to give space to those who work with us, work for us or merely share work schedules with us. And even if it’s not a working relationship, it is a great act of grace to take on people’s assignment for a season so that they can get some space. Jesus knew they needed space and He went the extra mile to let them escape, while He did the difficult task of sorting out the crowd. Make a sacrifice to give someone you love some extra breathing space. Take a schedule off them. And they will be ever grateful for it.

“Lord Jesus, give me Your heart. Even when I feel tired and stressed, please give me the heart that sees the needs of others and makes me willing to sacrificially take on some of their load, so that they may get some rest. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
