STOP DOUBTING

July 23, 2018

Matthew 15:33

“Then His disciples said to Him, ‘Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?’ ”

Jesus had fed the vast multitude of over five thousand through the miracle of multiplication, and yet when Jesus asked them to feed this crowd of four thousand, they doubted again. Had they not seen Jesus miraculously provide in a similar context? Why did they doubt this time around, even as they doubted the first time?

The testimonies of God’s provisions in the past need to anchor our hearts on God’s ability and faithfulness. When a fresh challenge arises, we need first to remember how God arose for you in the past and use that as a basis to project His ability to do the same for you again. We must stop doubting, and the only way to do this is by refusing to isolate each situation as unique. Each difficulty must be seen in the broader picture of God’s historical dealing with us; thereby affording us a framework around which to anchor our faith. God is faithful. God has been faithful. God will remain faithful. Believe.

“Father, in my present trial, I choose to believe. I know that You who have shown Yourself able and faithful in the past, You will show Yourself faithful even in my present difficulty. I believe, Lord. I believe. In Jesus name. Amen.”
