WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?

Matthew 16:15-17

“ ’But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.’ ”

Jesus was not so concerned about how the multitudes saw Him, but He needed to know how His closest inner circle of friends saw Him. Peter’s response, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God” was not a definition of Jesus based on human interaction or logical reasoning. This definition was given to Peter by the divine inspiration of God, and Jesus was quite surprised and amazed by Peter’s perception.

How do we define Jesus? Who is Jesus to you? We need to see Jesus beyond the ordinary understanding of the masses. We need to see Jesus for who He really is. We need to see Jesus the way the Father sees Jesus, because only then can we truly appreciate the glory of who He is. Jesus is more glorious and more awesome than what our human minds can ever conceive. The fullness of the divinity and splendor of Jesus cannot be experienced without heaven’s intervention. Only God can truly show us Jesus, and we need to seek Him earnestly that we may properly know Jesus. Don’t be satisfied with the superficial definitions of men. Seek heaven so that you may know Jesus more intimately.

“O Father, that I may know Jesus more intimately is my prayer. I know Him but I still need to know Him, and only You can open my eyes and my heart to see and perceive Jesus correctly. So, do help me, Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.”
