INFLUENCING CHILDREN CORRECTLY

August 16, 2018

Matthew 18:6

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

We need to be careful how we handle children. Because God has a unique space for children in His heart, we must be cautious not to lead them astray or cause their faith to stumble. As parents, guardians, senior siblings or people of authority over them, we must watch how we influence them and model life before them.

The curse pronounced on any who leads a believing child astray is a grave one. God will not take it kindly at all. We must help nurture their faith and help them remain in the ways of the kingdom. They are watching our lifestyle and us, and this will ultimately affect the path they choose. Our actions or inactions have a significant effect on their lives, and we must be aware of this. Knowing that God’s severe judgment rests on those who lead children astray, may we walk circumspectly around them and with them.

“Father, it is my privilege to model righteousness before these young lives, and I need to make it one of my priorities to reflect and promote positive Christ-centered values before them, in Jesus name. Amen.”
