JUST OBEY

Matthew 21:6

“So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.”

To be honest, not everything that Jesus says seems to make sense; at least not in the immediate present. Some things are difficult to understand and comprehend, yet Jesus says they are the right things to do. For example, “love your enemy” does not humanly speaking make sense at all. “Do good to those who hurt you,” sounds very weird. Why should I love and do good to the very people who desire my downfall and want my disgrace? Some of Jesus’ teachings honestly may not make sense, yet we are called to obey.

Just obey when it’s clear He’s the One speaking. Just obey without seeking first to understand. Is this not blindly following? Yes, it is, and blindly following anyone is a bad thing except when it comes to following Jesus. The disciples didn’t ask details about the donkey they were to untie and to bring to Him. They had walked with Him long enough to believe that if He says something that doesn’t make sense to them, they would still obey once He was the one commanding them. Let’s follow in the steps of these disciples. If we walk in close communion with Jesus long enough, we will come to the point of trusting Him enough to obey Him all the time.

“I don’t always understand You Lord, but I choose to obey You. Please Lord, give my mind peace when reason wants to overtake faith. I believe, so I obey. Help my actions to be strictly connected to my faith and not my mind. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
