PROGRESSIVE UNDERSTANDING

October 4, 2018

Matthew 21:11

“So the multitudes said, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.’ “

Partial revelation is not bad; it’s simply a sign of progressive understanding. The multitudes who were chanting, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord’ did not fully understand whom they were shouting about. And when people asked them, “Who is this?” their response betrayed their limited understanding. The multitudes only saw Jesus as a prophet from Nazareth, period! But Jesus knew this, and He was not disturbed by it. He simply knew that partial revelation was progressive understanding.

With all our knowledge of Jesus today from the Scriptures and experience, I believe it’s still partial understanding. In fact, the mystery of the Triune God may always be a mystery on this side of eternity because we know in part. However, a day is coming when we shall see all things precisely as they really are. Worship God and follow Him according to the level of your understanding. Our only cry should be that we don’t remain stagnant, but grow in the progressive knowledge of our God; and His will for our generation and for us.

“Lord, I know I only see in part today, but according to what I have seen, I will worship You wholly and obey You fully, even as I crave for further revelations of God by Your Holy Spirit. Amen.”
