MOVE FORWARD

October 9, 2018

Matthew 21:17

“Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there.”

Do not remain where people are nagging you and fighting you out of envy; that is not the place to stay. This does not mean you are to leave your work or leave your church or leave your team. It simply means that we must not sit and continue in discussions that are motivated by envy and jealousy, for such interactions are always unprofitable. You cannot win where the other party is not motivated by the power of reason, but by the flames of negative competition.

Jesus did not stay with the Chief Priests and Scribes. He went out of the city to Bethany. He knew that He would still be expected to enter the city again in the future, but for now, He knew that it was best to move forward. May we know when we need to move forward. It takes wisdom to know when remaining at your present location will be fruitless and unproductive because of the climate around you. May we be bold to move on for a season, even if we may choose to return to the same place, at another time in the future.

“Please Lord, deliver me from sitting and discussing with people who are motivated by negative sentiments about me. Grant me the humility and boldness to move on and let things go, even for a season. I ask this, in Jesus name. Amen.”
