HANDLING LEGITIMATE DESIRES

October 10, 2018

Matthew 21:18

“Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry.”

Some desires or lusts are legitimate, and not all strong desires are wrong or harmful. Jesus was so hungry that He cursed the fig tree for not having fruit. His desire to eat was overwhelming. He honestly was famished and needed to eat, and not finding what he had expected to see, brought about His strong reaction.

Have strong desires for legitimate things. Have strong desires for things that add value. Have strong desires for things that will bring renewal and replenishment to body, soul, and spirit. If we hunger for the right things, we will be satisfied. And if we are not satisfied in the immediate, we will eventually find satisfaction. To have a strong desire is not wrong; we only need to ensure that our strong desire matches heavens desire for our lives.

“Lord God, may my strong desires and pangs of hunger align with what heaven has chosen for me. May You order my heart to desire the correct things, in Jesus name. Amen.”
