THE STONE OF GRINDING

October 21, 2018

Matthew 21:44

“And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”

As mentioned previously, Jesus is the Stone of God that cannot be taken for granted. For those who willingly fall on Him, He will break them so that He might reform them. However, the majority of people who interact with Him do not come to fall on Him voluntarily. In fact, the majority of people who meet Jesus actually resist Him. Our world is hostile to Jesus, and we do not want to see Jesus reign over us. Most men see Jesus either as an interloper or a fraud. And sad to say, but even for us Christians who say that we accept Him, many of us do not want Him to break us; but we simply want Him to serve us and our myopic, selfish interests.

For as many who see Him in this way, Jesus will come to them as a grinding stone. Jesus will fall on them with the power of the might of God, and their end will not be good. Some who think they are important today and who somehow believe that they have succeeded in crushing Jesus in their lives and in their societies are in for a big surprise. A day is coming when the grinding mill of God will fall on men and on that day, there shall be no hope and no deliverance. Today is the day of opportunity. Today is the day to fall on Jesus voluntarily. A day is coming when we can no longer do this. Don’t be satisfied with a relationship with Jesus, if He is not breaking and molding you through that relationship. If Jesus is not a Stone of Breaking in your life today, He is undoubtedly going to be a Stone of Grinding in the future someday. Which would you rather have?

“Father, I choose to fall on Jesus than to have Jesus fall on me. I plead with Your mercy never to allow me to encounter Jesus as the Stone of Grinding. Please hear my cry and answer me, in Jesus name. Amen.”
