Matthew 23:8
“But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.”
By this one statement, Jesus pulls the rug from under a vast majority of churches and ministries who have built their brand around the “teaching anointing” of a single man of God. It is not that we don’t need teachers, because we do. In fact, the Scripture teaches that God has placed in the Body, “Apostles, Prophets, Teachers” etc., for equipping of the Saints and the building of the Body. We need teachers, but teachers should point men to Christ and not to themselves.
All spiritual gifts should point men to Christ, our Final Authority. It is the same Christ who gave different gifts to us all. These gifts were not meant to separate us by levels of importance, but the gifts were to point us to Christ. We are all brethren, and we should use the unity of our brotherhood to equip men and point men to Jesus. May my life and the gifts of the Spirit working in me, point men to Jesus rather than gather men around me. Amen.
“This is my prayer, Lord. You alone are my final teacher, and I plead total allegiance to You above and beyond whatever else men are saying. Amen.”
