Matthew 25:1-2
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.”
The Bridegroom is coming, but we don’t know when. As those called and separated unto the Kingdom, we must have our lamps trimmed and ready for His coming. Yes, it would seem that His return has been delayed but He will come and we must make adequate preparations for His immediate return or extended delay, and one way to do that is by having extra oil stored away.
Jesus may have delayed, but He is coming. The oil of His presence must never depart from our lives. I must be prepared for the extended wait. I must not let my oil dry out. Always ensure that His oil is in your lamp lest He comes at a time when your oil is finished. Wisdom is not in the possession of oil or in the knowing that the Bridegroom is coming. Wisdom is in having a constant reservoir of His oil. I must be ready always for my Lord’s return.
“Lord, I don’t feel I am ready for Your return. I know You are coming but I don’t think I have made adjustments to ensure that my lamp remains on when You return. O God, do a work of revival in my life today. Fill me afresh O God with Your oil and help me keep the reservoir full of Your presence. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
