Matthew 26:2
“You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
One of the most unique favors that can be granted to any mortal being is to know the day and time of his departure from earth. Our life here is like the transient passing of the wind and as with the wind, it is hard to know when it will come and when it will depart. So, it is with our sojourn here on earth. But now and again, God shows a special favor to some of His children so that they know when their time of their departure is near. I cannot tell why some people have this experience and why others don’t, but for those who are granted this information, it is a special favor indeed.
I want this favor. I am praying that I will be among the blessed few who get to know when their death is near. For Jesus, He knew exactly when His day of crucifixion would be and He had the opportunity to prepare for it. Although drinking the cup of death itself may not be easy, yet knowing ahead gives you the time frame to adjust and prepare for the beautiful transition into the next life. However, whether I know the day or not, it is my most earnest prayer that my Lord will get me ready to cross over the Jordan into my promised land. I have left Egypt and crossed over the Red Sea into this wilderness. I am no longer in the land of bondage, but I am in the wilderness years of testing. I know a day is coming when I shall enter the land flowing with milk and honey. I eagerly wait for that day.
“Lord, how I desire to know when my day of crossing shall come. However, whether I know or not, Lord, please prepare me for that day and please ensure that I am ready. I ask this in Your name. Amen.”
