POUR IT OUT

December 22, 2018

Matthew 26:7-8

“a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, ‘Why this waste?’ “

Don’t hold back. Pour it out. Pour it all out. He deserves to receive the costliest treasure of your life. Pour it out. Don’t withhold your life from Him. He is the Lord of glory. He’s the lover of your life. He’s your sustainer, your upholder, your refresher, and your very breath. How can we withhold anything from Him who has done so much for us? We know that what we have is costly and fragrant, but they are only costly and fragrant by human standards because what we have is nothing compared to the true riches and fragrance that encircles His Majesty.

I pour it out to my Lord because holding it back would be stupid. Like that woman, all that I think is precious to me should be laid bare before Him. I won’t listen to my friends who think I am wasting my riches. Wasting what riches? What’s my treasure after all and who gave it to me? Is He not the One? For this reason, it is sheer foolishness to hold on to something that I think is too beautiful for the Lord. May my greatest joys be to pour out my most precious oils at the feet of my redeemer.

“Lord, I confess that my friends are foolish and they offer foolish counsel. I know I may feel the pain of letting go but I need to learn to make those sacrifices to prove my worship to You. Replace my pains with joys from above O Lord. Like the woman, I bow before You Jesus. You deserve my everything. Amen.”
