Matthew 26:50
“But Jesus said to him, ‘Friend, why have you come?’ Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.”
There’s a heavenly attitude that cannot be understood, rationalized or explained. This attitude is rooted in the heavenly nature that we bear, and this attitude rubs off on all our actions and reactions. There’s an attitude that takes over the mind and determines every aspect of our relationships with men. This inexplicable attitude gives us a framework with which we interpreter all that we do and how we do it. It’s inexplicable because it runs contrary to the normal ways of human logic and reasoning.
In this passage, we see Jesus still calling Judas His friend, even as Judas was betraying Him! What is this? Jesus knew why Judas had come but still called him His friend. Although this looks very unreasonable by human logic because Judas was operating as an enemy, yet Jesus dared to call him friend. For those who bear the heavenly nature, our mindset and ways of reasoning must be completely different from others. We see differently. We act differently. We are a weird breed. Be warned: We will be misunderstood, and people may try to take advantage of us. But that’s ok. We cannot help but be true to our nature of love, even during betrayal and treachery.
“Father, I know I bear Your nature. May all my attitudes always reflect this heavenly nature irrespective of the context I find myself. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
