THE SURETY OF HIS WORDS

February 19, 2019

Matthew 28:6

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

The Angel was speaking to the women, quoting Jesus’ words to them. It meant that while Jesus had been alive and had been speaking and teaching the people, the Angel was privy to their discussions. Because the Angel knew exactly what Jesus had told the women, he, therefore, was simply informing them that Jesus’ words were accurate and correct.

Jesus’ words will always come to pass, even when it may not look that way for a season. His words can be trusted and depended on. The Angels confirmed this. We who have tasted of the goodness of God know that this is true. In all our life journeys, we should never doubt His words. If He says it will happen, it will happen; even if it delays for a little while. Trusting Jesus is the surest key to living a peaceful life. Even when crucifixion has completed its most bitter work, Jesus’ words are still active and alive. Don’t doubt. Only Jesus has the power to create life out of death, and even when a situation looks dead and disastrous, don’t doubt. Once you are sure of what Jesus has spoken, trust. Him. His words are our surety in this life and the next.

“Your words are true, Lord Jesus. I anchor my life on Your words. I shall fear no evil for Your words are with me to secure and guide me through this valley of uncertainties. I fasten myself to Your Words, O Lord, and this shall always be my confidence in this life. Amen.”
