You’re my greatest need

I have always wanted a mentor

I’ve always needed a coach

A role model,

Someone to look up to,

Someone I can emulate

But the many people I’ve tried have failed me – they’ve vanished

They always deserted me when I needed them the most

They’ve just not been there for me

But now I know why

You’ve kept the good away so I can have You – the best!

You’re my coach

You’re my mentor

Once I keep my eyes on You,

There’s renewed strength & hope

Where others have failed,

You have not

You’ve been there for me

You’ve brought me home

You’ve taken me in

And showed me Your faithfulness

My greatest need is to know You’re here,

Cheering me on

Instructing me

Disciplining me

Correcting me

I need You Lord as my coach

I need you desperately

I can keep fighting & running if You’re with me

With You in my corner,

I know I will overcome
