Romans 10:1 (NKJV)
“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.”
Our heart desires remain empty wishes until they are translated into prayers. We have many desires buried in our hearts, but whatever we want to see actualized need to be raised up to God in prayer. Prayer gives our desire hope and possibility. Prayer takes our desires into the realm of possibility. Prayer brings God into the equation. Vanity is when we try to establish our hearts desires by our human energies.
You know the priorities of a man by listening to his prayers. If his focus is mainly on his carnal needs, then he is indeed a carnal man. The more spiritual the man, the more his heart’s desires have to do with God’s desires. When a man is often thinking of and praying for God’s glory to come upon the earth, he is closer to the heart beat of God. And for those who pray in line with God’s heart priorities, these are more likely to receive their prayers answered. Let’s move away from babyhood. Let’s grow past pursuing only personal accomplishments through prayers. As Paul did, let our heart desires resonate for the lost and the helpless and dying in our generation. Then, let’s turn those desires over to God in prayer, and see whether God will not answer even your unspoken heart desires for yourself.
“Lord, so many are lost and helpless. Help my heart desires to focus on those needing help and salvation. Save our world Lord. Save our people. In Jesus name. Amen.”
