Romans 10:16 (NKJV)
“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’”
We cannot be discouraged because people reject our message. We need to keep going. Once we know we are preaching the true gospel, we have done our part. It’s not my job to make people believe; it’s my job to preach the gospel. Once I present the report of the truth of God’s Word, my primary obligation is done. Of course, I want everyone who hears me to believe in my report, but it’s not in my power to do so. That’s beyond my authority and my mandate.
Don’t be discouraged if they don’t immediately obey the gospel. Keep going. Remember that some may not respond positively today but by the mercies of God, the seed you sow today may still germinate tomorrow. Encourage yourself in the Lord and keep preaching. Scatter your seeds wide knowing that many may not germinate but also many will. All prophets, apostles, preachers and teachers have tasted that familiar feeling of rejection and failure; that inner sense of futility because people refused to respond positively to our ministries. While that’s a normal human feeling, we need to go beyond what’s normal. We live the supernatural life of God, the overcoming life; and we must overcome the inner feelings of failure because of people’s lack of positive response. Let’s keep our eyes on God and keep preaching, irrespective of what people say or do with our message.
“Lord, I know that feeling but I choose from today not to let it take root in me. I look to You Lord, and I will keep preaching no matter what. In Jesus name. Amen.”
