Romans 14:9 (NKJV)
“For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.”
The summary vision of Christ, is that He may be Lord of both the living and the dead. Jesus humbled Himself and took on human flesh for the sake of this vision. Jesus went through human treachery, scourging and beating because of this vision. He went through the agonies of the cross because of His desire to be Lord of all. Jesus will stop at nothing until He is crowned Lord of the living and the dead.
As His children of covenant, we are redeemed to live for this vision. To call Jesus Lord is to commit to making Him Lord in all nations. We cannot make Him Lord over the dead but we can make Him Lord over the living. All my life pursuits must sync with this passion of Christ. All my deployment of resources must dovetail into the fulfillment of this vision. If Jesus did not withhold His life for the sake of this vision and if that same Jesus lives in me, then He will propel me towards the realization of the vision. Jesus is Lord of all and although we don’t see that reality today, He will one day be crowned Lord of all, and all will bow to His Lordship, either willingly or by compulsion. “For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God’ ” (Verse 11). My duty is to ensure that all who encounter me are given the opportunity to crown Him Lord, willingly and joyfully.
“Lord Jesus, we commit to labor until You are indeed joyfully crowned Lord by all around us. We live for the fulfillment of Your vision. Amen.”
