THE NEED OF REMINDING

Romans 15:15 (NKJV)

“Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God,”

One thing we all need is the ministry of “reminding.” Because of who we are, we tend to forget what we have been told and what we have learnt. For this reason, it is paramount that we are reminded again and again of those things which are important for our attention, and to do this, God sends us some people as “Reminders.” After praising the church in Rome for being “full of goodness and all knowledge,” Paul immediately went ahead to remind them” of some points.”

Irrespective of our level of spirituality, we all need to be reminded again and again on “some points.” Nobody should feel that they have reached a point that they don’t need reminders. And it is God’s grace to us if He sends us people who are bold to bring up these reminders. We need reminding. I need God to send me helpers who will constantly remind me of the things that God expects of me. I know myself. I am prone to slide away or focus on non-essentials. This is me. This is humanity. But with the help of others, my life can stay focused on God’s priorities. We must be open to receive this ministry from others. We also need to be bold to remind others of things they may have forgotten. We need to learn to give and take in this ministry of “reminding.”

“Father, please send me reminders. I know I need this ministry assistance because I tend to wander away from Your priorities. No matter who You choose to send my way, keep my heart open to receive their ministry as coming from You. And grant me the boldness to do the same to others around me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
