THE KEY THAT UNLOCKS HEAVEN

1 Samuel 1:11 (NKJV)

“Then she made a vow and said, ‘O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me… but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life…’”

One thing that God desires, protects, and looks out for, is His glory. God exists for His glory, and God works to establish His glory. Once the Lord is guaranteed to receive glory from any activity around our lives, He will most likely intervene in that activity for good. And because God searches the heart and the minds, He knows when we sincerely desire His glory or when we simply want to use Him to attain our own glories.

Hannah made a vow to God. She made an oath of commitment before the presence of the Most High. If God would grant her heart’s desire, Hannah promised and determined to hand over the child back to God. Her commitment was that she would not keep the blessing and glory to herself, but she would give it all back to God. Once the Lord saw that consecration, He responded and gave her the desire of her heart. If we would only consecrate to God the things we so dearly want from Him even before we receive them, then we are sure to have His attention and His involvement. Heaven responds when we vow to give all the glory back to God.

“Lord, this is a salient lesson today, and I pray that I will not fail in this vow. May all I do and plan to do, bring You and You alone, the highest glory. Amen.”
