WHAT GOD EXPECTS (3)

1 Samuel 3:1 (NKJV)

“Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli…”

God expects that all ministry should first and foremost be “before” Him, and not “before” men. In our world today, our programs and ministries have become so focused on “people” and while there are vital needs in the world, our primary assignment should be towards the Lord, and not to people. Work with people. Serve people. Engage people. Help people. However, we must never forget that people should never be our primary target. God is.

Samuel grew before the Lord, and ministered to the Lord. All the grace of God given to him was first of all poured out to the Lord. And this should also be our experience. We have all received an abundant grace from above. Irrespective of where we serve and how we serve, we need to keep our hearts and minds first centered on Christ. All secular and non-secular activities should have Jesus as their hub. Our motivation for life should be serving Jesus. This is why we are still here on earth; not to serve people, but to serve Jesus.

“Lord, I release myself to You. My first commitment is not to my agenda or my plans, but to You my Lord. I will not serve any other above You.”
