1 Samuel 3:11 (NKJV)
“Then the Lord said to Samuel: “Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.”
God is looking for people with whom He can share His deepest heart secrets. In a world where everyone is busy pursuing their own agenda’s, where can God find men and women who will be ready to listen to and share in His own heart desires? Eli and his sons had been captured by the cycle of religion and they were satisfied there. They had no clue of what was in God’s heart and so they could no partake in or prepare for it. They were with God but had no access to God’s heart.
But there was a Samuel who could still hear God and respond to Him. There was a Samuel with whom God could share His heart and His plans. There was a Samuel who truly occupied the position of a prophet and not just the title. And these are the types of men we need today. We need men who have heard from God and can speak in His name. We need men who have sufficient closeness to God, that when they say something, people know that the Almighty has spoken. We need Samuel’s who are not so encumbered by life that they cannot hear God’s heart. We need to extricate our inner spirits to hear what God is saying because He is still looking for people to share His heart with.
“O Lord, I am just too busy. As I write now, I confess that I am far too busy than is good for me. Deliver me from the cycle of pursuing and not stopping to listen. You have things You want to tell me and tell our world. May I be among those with whom You can share Your heart. In Jesus name. Amen.”
