“Oh Lord, make us desperate. Make us people who cannot and will not be satisfied with less than You. Lord, change our appetites and make our priorities converge on You. Make us a crazy people—crazy in pursuit after You. Life only begins to make sense when we touch You, experience You, feel You and can enjoy You. Oh Lord, don’t let our hearts rest in the ordinary patterns of Christian religiosity. Take us deeper—and further away from empty norms and into life encounters with You. You speak. You are real. How we want more of Your realness! We don’t want to join the bandwagon of easily satisfied Christians. We are not satisfied with the assurance of forgiveness from sin. We simply cannot be. There’s more. We want to experience the full benefits of full salvation. Let us enter Your full embrace Lord. We will not tire from making this desperate appeal. Everything is vanity if it does not end up in these deep encounters. You are Almighty and we want to see You in Your Almightiness. With Moses, we cry, ‘Show us Your glory!’ Yes Lord, nothing else will satisfy. Nothing else. How I hate those Christian traditions that try to create spiritual complacency and deceive men into thinking there isn’t more to experience in God. Blessed are those Christian traditions that keep us restless and thirsty for more of God; that make us hungry to enter deeper into the divine romance with the maker of the heavens. You are the Creator of all things. How can we be satisfied with superficial spirituality when You invite us in for more. We want more Lord. Quieten all noises that distract. Most of life is noise. There’s the inner place where the human soul feeds on the greatness of God. Jesus—take us inside the holy of holies. By Your blood, You have torn the veil that kept us in the outer courts. Although we are no more in the court of the Gentiles, we are still not seeing the shekina glory as revealed only in the holy of holies. We want Your shekina and no man can give that to us. Lord, take us deeper still. Take us deeper still. By Your name we pray. Amen.”
