OUR NEED FOR SHILOH

September 28, 2023

1 Samuel 3:21 (NKJV)

“Then the Lord appeared again in Shiloh. For the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord.”

One of our deepest needs is for the Lord to reveal Himself to us. Any man who has “seen” the Lord cannot turn away from Him. The Lord is beautiful. The Lord is magnificent. The Lord is glorious. The Lord is a bright and shining light for the righteous. The Lord is King. When the Lord (referred to as Shiloh in Genesis 49:10) appears to you, your life can never be the same. When the Lord visits you, the change is definite and permanent. When the Lord reveals Himself to you, He has honored you beyond measure. With all our spiritual energies, let us pursue Shiloh that He may reveal Himself again to us. But know that only the Lord can determine when He reveals Himself.

For Samuel, the Lord revealed Himself in Shiloh. Shiloh is also a place of encounter, a place where God chooses to visit man. At Shiloh, God revealed Himself through His Word. While we want to have spectacular experiences with God, the most recurrent way God has revealed Himself is through His word. We cannot determine how God will show up, but let us commit large portions of our time to sitting still before God’s Word, waiting for His light to shine upon us. Shiloh is the place of reflecting on God and His word. Shiloh is the place where we stop our human agitations – and we rest in God’s goodness. Shiloh is the place where heaven meets with earth. There is no greater encounter than in God’s Shiloh – meeting the Messiah in the place of His Word. How I desperately need Shiloh again.

“Lord, bring me into Your rest in Shiloh. As You appeared to Samuel again, I need Your fresh encounters again and again. I come to Shiloh with this great expectation. I come to Your Word expectation Your revelation. To survive and to thrive, I need Shiloh. Meet with me Oh precious Savior and Messiah. I have no greater need than Your fresh touch in my life. Meet with me again at Shiloh. Amen.”
