LET HIM DECIDE!

February 7, 2025

1 Samuel 25:12
“So David’s young men turned on their heels and went back; and they came and told him all these words.”

We are confronted with difficult issues every day; issues that need quick decisions at short notice. The pressure to respond can force us to take decisions that don’t align with God’s will, even when our intentions are good.

It is in Him that we live and move and have our being. The heart of God’s desire for us is that we live completely dependent lives; never trying to sort things out without Him. This is God’s will for us. This is how we ought to live daily.

While this may sound overly spiritual, know that God does not expect us to make decisions without Him. He is the One sending us into the world. We interact with the world in His name. We therefore need to respond to the world according to His guidance.

We need to develop the discipline that makes us consciously and continuously asking God for guidance. It’s a constant whisper of the soul. It’s a daily quiet cry of the heart. It’s a lifestyle cultivated by faith.

Why do we need His guidance for every decision? Because we are fully aware that we won’t make the right decisions without Him. We know our limitations and we are not ashamed to confess our limited wisdom and understanding.

David’s men went to Nabal in David’s name. When Nabal rejected them, they did not act or respond to him. They simply returned back to the one who had sent them. They needed David to tell them what to do next. That’s dependent living.

Unfortunately, many of us think we know how to resolve issues without returning back to Him. We engage our world by our wisdom and then we are surprised that things don’t work out as we anticipated. Return back to the Lord.

Let Him decide. Let Him tell you what to do. This is not over spiritualism. Develop the habit of waiting for God to point out how to respond in different situations. This is how pilgrims must live. This is how we practice our spirituality. Amen.
