Genesis 50:17 (NKJV)
‘‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: ‘I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.’…And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.”
Release yourself from your past. Once the issues of the past have been dealt with, don’t keep returning there again. This is of the devil and is self-torture. If God has forgiven you and you’ve settled your issues, why do you think again that the past is still haunting you?
Despite all the assurances given by Joseph and despite all the goodness extended to the brothers, they still held a secret fear that Joseph would one day retaliate for the evils they did against him in the past. But when they again came asking for forgiveness, this broke Joseph’s heart because he had buried the past with the past and had accepted the evil events of the past as God’s vehicle for his promotion.
Move on! Stop living in the past. There is so much ahead of you. Look ahead and release the failures and sins of the past. Stop letting them grieve you and hold you in captivity.
“I am free from my past, for who the Son has set free, is free indeed. I release myself from the quiet whispers that say that my past evil deeds are still going to haunt and torture me. Thank You, Lord, for the blood of atonement that permanently crushes the sins of the past and pronounces full liberty for my soul. Amen.”
