Matthew 28:18
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth,’ ”
When Jesus asked His disciples to meet with Him after the resurrection, His first declaration to them was that He had control of all authority in heaven and earth, because God had delegated all to Him. The disciples may have been bewildered by this information, and may have been wondering, “How could all authority in heaven and on earth be handed over to Jesus?” Because Jesus was about to give them His final mandate to execute, He needed them to believe that they were going with all of heaven’s power behind them.
We need to likewise come to that place of conviction that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus. If we believe this with all our hearts, it will affect the way we see Jesus or respond to His commandments. If we truly believe these words of Jesus, then our lifestyle should reflect this. We should be bold, and confident, and willing to do the impossible with Jesus.
“Lord Jesus, I really believe that all power belongs to You and that there’s nothing impossible with You. But many times, I don’t act as though I believe. Maybe it’s fear, timidity or inner doubt. Am not sure Lord, but am not as bold as I should be about the things of Your kingdom. Touch me once again O Lord, so that my actions will truly reflect my faith. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
