Romans 1:18 (NKJV)
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”
God’s anger is not from here. God’s anger emanates from His throne room in heaven, and it targets ungodliness and unrighteousness. Where ungodliness and unrighteousness are associated with men, then these attract the wrath of God. God is so holy and the twin nature of ungodliness and unrighteousness are direct affronts to His holy nature.
But there are those who do not only practice ungodliness and unrighteousness, they actually suppress and work against the knowledge of God’s truth. They act as though God’s truth does not exist and works against others knowing His truth. To such, God’s anger burns with greater intensity. Where does that leave me? It leaves me looking up to heaven, and seeking only the mercy of Him who sits at the right hand of the Father, who not only atones for me, but shields me from every wrath of God, by His blood.
“Jesus, I am all ungodliness and unrighteousness, and I am deserving of the full wrath of God, but because of You, I am free from this and I escape in mercy. Thank You Jesus. Amen.”
