GOD WANTS TO BE FOUND

Romans 1:19-20 (NLT)

“They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them…Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

This is a difficult verse to interpret but the meaning is very simple and clear: God wants to be found. No man will escape the judgement of God on the pretext that they didn’t know about God. He has revealed His eternal power and divine nature to all men through the creations of His hand. His invisible qualities speak about His nature through all of creation. God is not hiding Himself; God is revealing Himself.

Even for those of us who are saved, God is continually speaking so that we should not claim not to see Him or know Him. God is not a hiding God; He wants to be seen and known, and even if we do not fully encounter His person, He gives sufficient hints and direction through other pointers around us. KJV says, “what may be known of God is manifest,” and this summarizes the matter. God wants to be known and He therefore manifests Himself. We need to look ever more closely around us and within us, and we will see the marked signs of God pointing us to Himself.

“Lord, this is so true; You have not left Yourself without markers. Although the spirit of disobedience works hard to keep us blinded, we confess that we see You manifested all around us. Give us faith to believe and follow. Amen.”
