Jude 1:2 (NKJV)

‘Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.’

I love the way the New Living Translation renders it: ‘May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.’ Yes, these are the three things I need more and more and more of. I don’t need more and more and more money. I don’t need more and more fame. I don’t need more and more friends. I don’t need more and more respect or recognition or materials or promotion or whatever else the world is pursuing. I need more and more of God and with God; I get His mercy, peace and love.

Once I am assured that God will continue to lavish me with more and more of Himself, then all the overflow of His mercy, love and peace will encase my very being and keep me in the bosom of God. If I have an overflow of God’s mercy, what can man say to uproot me? If I have an overflow of God’s love, why will I fret over the recognition and love of men? If I have an overflow of God’s peace, what on earth can destabilize me? The life of perfect rest is the life that is enshrined in the mercy, peace and love of God. If I am praying for anything, I want these 3 things. Others may seek for other things but my heart cries for more and more and more and more and more of the mercy, love and peace of the Almighty God, who incidentally is also my Father.

‘Father, I don’t care about all the things the world is chasing. I care only about getting more and more of you and with you and in you, I know I will find an abundance of your mercy, love and peace. Give these to me today and every day Lord. In these, I know all my other needs will be met. Without these, all I have is vanity of vanities, an emptiness that cannot satisfy my deepest soul desire. So hear my cry today and grant me more and more of your mercy, love and peace. This I ask in Christ’s name. Amen.’
