HIS PRIMARY TASK FOR US

Matthew 28:19

“Go therefore and make disciples…”

Jesus has one primary task for us, and that is to make disciples. Jesus wants and expects us to invest the priority of our time in touching lives and forming lives after His likeness. We must assess our many activities by how much of them are connected to disciple-making. Preaching, teaching and all other ministries are good but how do they lead to the forming of disciples. Jesus expects us to invest in people and work with people to become Christ-like. If we are busy with so many things, but we are not busy with this, then we are doing something fundamentally wrong.

Disciple-making takes time. Disciple-making takes investments. Disciple making involves intentionality. Disciple-making is costly. Disciple-making is what Jesus expects of us. Pour Jesus into men. Let the Holy Spirit work through you to mold lives into His perfect image. Make your life an example of what Jesus wants to do in the lives of others. Be diligent with the process of life formation. Disciple making requires a lot of time and discipline. Disciple-making will cost you a lot of resources, and pain, and heartbreaks, but at the end of the day, it is a worthwhile ministry when you see human lives being transformed by the power of the resurrected Christ. So, let’s get involved in what is Jesus’ heart priority. There are many good things we are involved in that are good, but not in line with Jesus’ heart priority. It’s time to make a switch.

“Lord Jesus, I see that I am busy with so many things that don’t directly or indirectly lead to the molding of people’s lives. Help me reassess my commitments and make me place disciple-making as my priority ministry. I ask this in Your name. Amen.”
